While other parts of the world are embracing snowdrops and bare ground, we are still living in a snow globe. There is the temptation to wish for spring and the thrill of new life unfolding, but I have to resist and be grateful for the wintry wonderland we are still immersed in. Outdoors is the best way to beat deep winter cabin fever…and onto the creek for icy fun.
Despite my efforts on remaining present with the seasons, I turned the page on my new calendar and am delighted to see what is in store for us. And oh!, I finally found a calendar that resonates with me after discovering it on Instagram. Around the Day Planner is a feast for the eyes and heart and mind. Everything is so beautifully made with a Waldorfian inspiration. (The only addition I would love to see is a Biodynamic reference for each day (root, leaf, flower, fruit)…but otherwise it is amazing). You can check out their website here.
Meanwhile, we have ventured into the greenhouse to begin cleaning it up from last fall. Sunshine and Huckley and I have cleaned out the old, leftover plants and gathered tools and pots. We still have more days ahead, but it is fun to go into such a cozy, earthy-smelling space. Just look at the snow load out there! We do have such a wait for spring!
I have mentioned that we have shelved our cross-Canada bus adventure til next summer due to lack of funds. So here the bus shall sit as we work away on it. She sits right before the hay shed so every day I am reminded of what awaits us next year and my enthusiasm only grows. I have seen the kids playing inside as all the seats are taken out and it is but an empty shell on the inside, waiting for us to begin. We are planning a short one week trip this summer to test drive the bus and see how she handles, so we will hopefully have the bare necessities inside…seats and seatbelts, a kitchen sink and beds.
The last few weeks I have lost a little momentum with our homeschooling and this is the first time I have not felt too guilty about it. We have worked so well and thoroughly that it is a nice break while we take care of other things…like several birthdays, garden starts, and new activities beginning. February is anything but dull around here…just a juggle of busy-ness, and that works for us right now, indeed. We change the calendar over after tomorrow and then I can look towards the merging of seasons with a little more enthusiasm.

Have a wonderful week, friends! I hope you stay grounded in this moment and enjoy how the seasons lead you onwards, wherever you may be.

Hi Jules. Only just realised you have started blogging again. Lovely to see you back. Wow! That is some trip you are planning and fixing up that beautiful old bus too. Amazing. Good luck with it all. Just love the look of that planner- so beautiful – I want one! Yes I agree a biodynamic calendar would make it perfect. 🙂
Hello Anna, and your comment made my day. Thank you so much. I encourage you to check out that planner…it is as beautiful and high quality as it appears. Nice to meet another biodynamic-interested gardener out there. Our bus adventure is waiting another year, but it is indeed worth the work and fun involved in getting to the place we can roll out of the driveway.
