I’ve been away from here for long enough that I realize I haven’t shared these Rapunzel mitts that I finished back in October. To be fair, it was the first project for the holidays and I promptly stashed them away in a hiding place so my little Sunshine wouldn’t find them (she’s a peeker, like I used to be). She didn’t find them, or so she claims, but her excitement upon opening them was pretty believable. She is wonderfully appreciative of all handknits, that girl.
They were quite fun to knit up until the braiding part and then a whole lotta trust in the pattern was called for….I think I held my breath until I saw just how easy it was to pick up the dropped stitches and form the braid. Honestly, this is a good, simple pattern….and roomy. My eight year old has some growing to do for them to fit properly, but that doesn’t discourage her from wearing them every day.
I also knit up two hats for the holidays…one for Forrest from our own sheep’s wool which I will be dyeing with plants and mushrooms and selling in the summertime in my Wool Maiden shop. Stay tuned….
And the hat on the right is from leftover wool from years ago when I made six year old Forrest a cardigan that Huckley now wears. The hat matches Huckley perfectly and I’m happy my little boys’ heads are cozy with mama knits.
From head to hands, just a few of the handknits that have been happening around our homestead. I look forward to seeing what others have been making over on Ginny’s Yarn Along.

Oh Jules, so so pretty!! And your sweet girl reminds me of Ella at this age…All pinks and purples. 💜
Thanks, Melly! Yes, our little girls have many similarities.

Those are lovely mitts! And the hats look so cozy. Your daughter’s sweater is pretty, too! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Brandy. xo
Love that she is decked out in purple and pink knits! Lately I feel like those are the only colors I use for my younger two. Can’t wait to check out your yarn! Hope you are all well.
Hi Laura! Ahhh, purples and pinks have such a place in the young life of children. My own daughter is on the brink of favouring turquoise, I can hardly believe it. We are well, and blessings back at you!
