a little hand stitching
March 16, 2017

My first phone died a few weeks ago.  I wasn’t very attached as I had only had it since last summer.  I never even used the phone as we live in a deep mountain valley where there is no cell service.  I am not very experienced with any form of technology and I typically own things without using them properly…like my SLR camera is really a point and shoot, and so is was my phone.  Last week, my husband bought me a new phone which is much fancier – and all the more intimidating, but I have learned how to take photos with it!

I take the phone with me to town and throw it in my purse, which is how I fear I contributed to the demise of the first phone.  My fingers were twitching to do some needle work, so I quickly sewed up a little padded phone case.  Sandwiched between layers of felt is a quilting pad, or whatever you call that puffy quilted fabric.  There is no way I will be responsible for the death of phone number two from neglect or bouncing around with my keys in my purse.  And I like pretty embroidery details, too.  I chose this button from a little collection of antler buttons my youngest son made for Christmas.  They are such a treasure…one of my favourite gifts I have received from him!

I have just five little embroidered bunnies left in the shop.  They make great little Easter or Spring basket stuffers for little hands.

And now, I am taking phone number two to town in its pretty little case….I need to buy some more embroidery floss!
