These days, more often than not, the facepaint comes out and a very long, quiet period of transforming occurs. I am rarely called in for help…and I continue to putter in the kitchen, watching the painting from across the room. We’ve tried various facepaints over the years, but this is the best we’ve found. It also comes off fairly easily, which is great when someone wants to be various different creatures in a day!
We have re-discovered playdough again. It seems every fall as we settle into our homeschool rhythm, we remember just how fun it is to create with playdough. Often, this is what the littlest plays with while the oldest two do some lesson work. And when Sunshine is finished her activities, she joins in to make delicious pies and cakes and treats.
Huckley, at age 5, is learning to light the cookstove in the morning, under supervision of course. On the weekend, he was inspired to make us all breakfast, too. I love it when my kids try something for the first time and their own sense of accomplishment seems to actually give them a growth spurt. Huckley marched our scrambled eggs and toast proudly to the breakfast table and he declared it the best breakfast he ever ate!
And just as swiftly, after his belly was full…he changed his clothes and became a tiger again!

We have the same face paints! Ours are so old though (8 years if you can believe it!), that all the white is gone and there is just a touch of the other colours. Time to order some more!
Your kids are so like mine, painting themselves all the time. I love it! xo
