Despite the hail and rain…and snow!…we received in these past few days, Spring is getting on with her thing and pushing up those crocuses and snowdrops. Every year, we seek out those first bonny blooms beneath the oak tree in our front yard…and every year, we are not disappointed. The joy and wonder and reassurance that the frozen ground will yield to the surge of life continues, cyclically and inevitably…afrerall, this is the merry month of March.
On Friday the 11th, our Mama Collaborative will be stocking up with lots of wonderful handmade goodies…just in time for the Equinox and Easter. I am busying my hands with embroidered felt bunnies…they are so soft and squishy, filled with clean wool and a little homegrown lavender. Be sure to check our etsy shop on Friday morning for more basket stuffers.
In our home, our hands have been busy…snuggling while reading a favourite, tattered Lego comic…sewing a Star Wars pillowcase for a birthday party…planting tomato and pepper seeds…finishing up a shawl for me…playing pick-up-sticks…and washing a mountain of dishes. You know what they say about idle hands? Well, I’m the sort that likes to keep my hands busy. Josh and I were talking about that earlier today and I notice that I am happiest and most content when I have a list of things to work on and do. I like the busy-ness of many projects on the go that can easily be picked up, whether it be for a few minutes or a stretch of a few hours. I flounder a little when I have too much time on my hands…I think of all the things I could be doing. That’s not to say I don’t enjoy my fair share of quiet calmness, breathing in the fresh air or sitting alongside my kids in the sandbox…but you’ll just as likely find a pile of knitting in my hands or some stitchwork in my lap at the same time.
And I think this moment was the best moment of our whole weekend ~ mastering the cartwheel for her ballet recital. I think she cartwheeled one hundred times in a row yesterday. Sunshine has a plan to practice every day and do twenty cartwheels at a time.
Yes, I think she belongs to me.
Have a wonderful week, friends.

*You may notice a button for the Too Sweet Boutique to the right in my sidebar. Sunshine was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes just over five years ago and we have been purchasing these insulin pump pouches ever since. They are well crafted with a huge selection of prints for both boys and girls. Sunshine loves them, and as she wears her pump 24/7, it is great for her to love what she is wearing. For the month of March, Sandra is kindly offering my readers 10% off orders of insulin pump pouches. The code is JULES10

I love all those busy hands. And I love all the signs of Spring. Of course you can add my blog to Pinterest – I don’t mind at all! I just followed you – you have some interesting boards. Feel free to add me. Have a wonderful week!
Hi Donna,
Wonderful! I’m having too much fun with this new woolmaiden pinterest page. I want a collection of all things woolly on one page. I just started it so there is a long way to go, but fun!

(ETA…Donna, my new pinterest page is not my old one, mamacraftynest that is linked to here on my blog, but a new page under woolmaiden…just wondered if you noticed that?) xo
